MERRY CHRISTMAS

"And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that ALL the world should be taxed."  Luke 2:1

Those words ring clear in my mind as a child listening every Christmas Sunday to our pastor or one of the elders reading the Christmas story.

Christmas has always been a time of hope, a time of love and sharing.  It began in a little manger in Bethlehem and that hope has spread throughout the world. Imagine God orchestrating the entire world to line up so that His son, Jesus Christ would be born on the day and in the place designated before the world began and spoken of through prophetic words in the Old Testament writings.  God is a God who has a plan, a design and He has everything in the palm of his hands.  Once we refocus our lives to be a part of His Plan we will see miracles take place and He will take us to places we never thought possible!

Dear Friends,

It doesn't matter to us if He was born on December 25th.  The most important thing was that Jesus, Emmanuel, the Promised Savior was born, He lived, He died for our sins, He was resurrected and He is Alive!

I know the world thinks of Christmas in terms of sales and parties, but remember, before there was Amazon.com, Macy's or the 99 cents store, Christmas was all about Jesus and the gift God gave to the world.

Christmas gifts were not $100 gift cards years ago.  For  us as children of the Greatest and WWII Generation, it was new pajamas or one toy.  Not anything costly or expensive.  As  children our gifts to our parents were usually homemade, a card, something we sewed or drew.  Gifts made from the heart are the ones most cherished and the ones you will find in your mother's jewelry box.

It's really not about the gift.  It's about the giver of the gift.  Likewise, it is not about the cost of the gift we receive from those we love, it is the act of giving that we should cherish the most!

Merry Christmas
